Hello everyone! I just wanted to tell you that I made it to Namibia and my year-long adventure has begun. I can not be more excited about it. We arrived at about 930 pm last night after about 22 hours of traveling and 3 flights. For the first 3 weeks in our new country, we will be staying in Windhoek, the capital of Namibia. We will endure classroom lectures like Namibian culture and teaching practicums. Today, we walked into the city to pick up a few necessities. I purchased my Namibian cell phone and got an internet card (yay!) Tonight, we are eating take-out Chinese food. I was surprised to find out that there is a significant Chinese immigrant population here. From what Ive seen so far, Namibia is very pretty. They were not lying though, Namibia is definitely experiencing their rainy season. It has poured all day today and despite my boycotting, I think I am going to have to buy an umbrella. Tomorrow is New Years Eve and we are going to have a braai, which is a Namibian barbeque.
